South Island Gallery / Sea paddling / 2008-05 South Coast of Banks Peninsula

I paddled from Birdlings Flat to Akaroa to test my new sea boat and paddles. Hundreds of noisy seals but only one dolphin. There's quite a few sheltered landings on the South Coast--I camped at Whakamoa Bay. Birdlings Flat isn't a beach I'd like to be forced to land at in a big swell--waves dump straight onto steep gravel.
